Frequently asked questions
What does an osteopath do, and wich complaints can be treated?
As an osteopath, I view the body as a whole. I understand how different tisseus are interconnected and how they influence each other.
In many cases, the root cause of a complaint is located in a completely different part of the body than where symptoms appear. This explainsnwhy some people continue to experience discomfort despite previous treatments.
Wich complaints does an osteopath treat?
In my practice, I primarily see people with chronic pain conditions such as, headaches, back pain, joint pain, abdominal pain, mentrual discomfort, and unexplained physical complaints.
Many of my clients, have allready undergone various treatment programs, often without achieving satisfactory results. I also frequently treat individuals suffering from burn out.
How does an osteopath assess a patient?
During a intake consultation, we discuss your symptoms and overall physical health. This includes reviewing your medical history, past surgeries, previous treatments, current medications, and dietary habits.
Following this, a physical examination is performed to identify the root cause of yoyr complaints. Based on the findings, a diagnoses is made, and if necessary, treatment is initiaded.
How does an osteopath treat a patient?
An osteopath treats patients using hands-on techniques, primarily focusing on gentle and precise manipulations.
The treatment aims to release restriction that may be causing discomfort. These restrictions can sometimes be located in a different part of the body than where the pain is actually expierenced.
Osteopathy relies solely on manual therapy—no equipment or medication is used.
How often should I recieve treatment?
The number of osteopathy sessions needed depends on your specific complaint. As a general guideline, noticeable improvement is usually seen after 3 to 4 treatments.
If no significant progress is made, we will discuss possible next steps.
Some patients choose to schedule preventive sessions a few times a year to maintain overall well-being.
What is the difference between Physiotherapy, Manual Therapy and Osteopathy?
These treatment methods have some overlap, and many osteopaths have a background in physiotherapy.
The main difference is that osteopathy takes a holistic approach, treating the body as a whole rather than focusing solely on specific symptoms. Osteopaths use specialized techniques and a broad perspective to address underlying causes. When necessary, treatment is supplemented with exercises and personalized advice on lifestyle and nutrition.
Osteopathy is for all ages. I treat people in all age categories, from very young babies (from 3 weeks) to the elderly, whom I help to remain as independent and mobile as possible.
